Challenges facing Japanese agriculture

Mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, which account for approximately 40% of Japan’s land area, are vital to food production, yet
We are facing a serious shortage of farm laborers and an increase in abandoned farmland.
Spear Inc. aims to solve this structural challenge through technological innovation.

Speer's three innovative characteristics

"Mizu no Yume Ine" (Water's Dream Rice), born from over 10 years of experimental cultivation and research and development,
It has three characteristics that overturn the common sense of traditional rice cultivation.

Prematurity

Approximately 30-50 days

Aiming for world-class harvesting speed

Traditional rice is said to take about 120 to 150 days.
Speer has the potential to yield a harvest in about 1/3 of the time,
It is being researched and developed as a futuristic rice variety that allows for multiple harvests per year.

Dwarf

Multi-level cultivation

Low and compact stature

Because the plant height is low, it is highly compatible with multi-story cultivation indoors and in containers,
Efficient cultivation is possible even in limited spaces.
Achieve a new agricultural production model that is not limited by location.

Gordon maturity

Stable yield

Ensure stable yield and quality

It has the characteristic of maintaining a high ripening rate even in short-term cultivation,
We aim to achieve both stable supply and quality maintenance.
This is an important characteristic that also leads to the stabilization of the food supply.

Speer's breeding plan

Based on the research results to date, we will further advance breed improvement,
We aim for social implementation through the development of two new varieties.

Schper No. 1

  • Purpose:For mass production of food
  • Target variety:Rice that can be harvested about 30 days after planting from seedlings
  • Cultivation Method:Greenhouse Hydroponics ・ Rice Container
  • Number of harvests:5 to 12 harvests per year
  • Social significanceImproving food self-sufficiency and securing food in emergencies

Contributing to the solution of regional issues and the revitalization of local areas

The future agriculture project of Super Co., Ltd. is,
It doesn't stop at mere improvement of rice varieties.
Through the regeneration of abandoned farmland, regional revitalization, and the creation of diverse employment opportunities,
Contribute to the formation of sustainable local communities.

Regeneration of abandoned farmland

We will effectively utilize abandoned farmland by implementing a new rice cultivation model.

Reuse of closed school facilities

We will utilize a disused, abandoned school as a base for container farming.

Creating New Agricultural Systems

We will promote labor-saving and efficiency-improving agricultural models to address an aging society.

Creation of diverse employment

We will create opportunities for diverse individuals, such as young people, women, and people with disabilities, to thrive in agriculture.
